Why we built Instaustad

Good words shouldn’t be stuck behind a scroll.

Important context often gets trapped inside social apps. A caption might hold credits, instructions, sources, or simply a really well-written paragraph. But getting that text into your own notes can be surprisingly awkward.

Instaustad exists to make that one narrow task simple. That’s it. We’d rather do one small thing well than try to be everything.

Enter a public link, review the caption, and use it responsibly.

That’s the whole idea, and the reason the tool stays intentionally simple.

Our principles

What guides how we build.

Useful before impressive

The tool is intentionally focused. Enter a public post or Reel link, review any available caption, and use it responsibly. No clutter, no tricks.

Privacy by restraint

Instaustad never asks for your Instagram password. Submitted links and technical records are handled as described in our privacy policy.

Respect creators

Easy access isn’t a license to copy. Our guides explain attribution, copyright, and how to turn research into original work.

Who it’s for

Made for people who work with words.

Creators

Reference their own work and study what resonates.

Marketers

Keep tidy records of public posts they need to review.

Students

Cite public sources properly in essays and projects.

Researchers

Collect public text for analysis, with credit and care.

Being upfront

What Instaustad does, and doesn’t do.

What we do

  • Show the caption that’s publicly available on a post or reel.
  • Publish practical, independent guides and troubleshooting articles.
  • Explain attribution, copyright and responsible use in plain language.
  • Fix mistakes when readers point them out.

What we don’t do

  • Ask for your Instagram password or login details.
  • Access private, deleted, age-restricted or login-only content.
  • Claim ownership of anyone else’s words, or grant permission to republish them.
  • Speak for, or pretend to be connected with, Instagram or Meta.
Editorial standards

How our help content is prepared.

Our editorial team uses first-party documentation, question-specific testing notes and reader corrections to maintain our troubleshooting guides. For each article, we identify the expected result, the limitations, and the official source we used.

Read our editorial policy
  1. Start with official sources

We begin with first-party documentation, so guidance is grounded in what the platform actually says.

  2. Test the specific question

We keep question-specific testing notes, so steps and results are checked against the problem readers are asking about.

  3. Be clear about limits

Every guide states what to expect, where it might not apply, and which official source we relied on.

  4. Listen to readers

Spotted an outdated step? Report it through our contact page and we’ll take a look.

How Instaustad is funded.

  • Ads are always labeled as advertisements.
  • Advertisers have no say over what we publish.
  • We keep ads away from the tool’s buttons so they’re never confusing.
  • You can change your cookie choices any time from “Cookie settings” in the footer.
