If you’ve spent more than a few seconds on Instaustad, you’ve probably noticed the text reminding you that we are entirely independent.
Clarity
Not Affiliated With Instagram
Why the independence disclaimer appears everywhere isn't just a quirk of our design; it's a foundational choice. Primarily, it's a legal requirement. We operate in an ecosystem dominated by a massive tech giant, and we genuinely need to make it absolutely clear we're not an official product or endorsed by Meta.
More Than Just Legal CYA
But beyond the legalities, it's an ethical choice. We don't want anyone confused about who made this tool. If you use Instaustad, you should know that you're using a third-party utility built by an independent team. Transparency builds trust, and pretending to be something we're not would undermine everything we stand for.
Most similar sites bury this in the fine print at the very bottom of the page, hoping you won't notice, because they actively benefit from the confusion. They want you to think they have official backing. We put it in plain sight because we have the opposite goal.
What's In a Name
This ties into our name choice. "Instaustad" doesn't try to sound like an official Instagram feature or a slick corporate spinoff. It sounds distinctly third-party, and the disclaimer reinforces that independence.
The Uncomfortable Reality
Ultimately, we’d rather over-disclose than under-disclose. The uncomfortable reality is that despite our best efforts, some users still assume we're connected to Instagram. They email us asking to restore locked accounts or fix platform bugs we have no control over.
That ongoing confusion is exactly why the disclaimer needs to be visible. As long as people mistake utility for official affiliation, we will keep stating clearly and loudly: we are just Instaustad.
